The Omo River flows south to Lake Turkana through one of the most culturally diverse regions in Africa. Communities such as the Hamer, Karo, Dassanech, Mursi and Konso maintain distinctive traditions of dress, body decoration, agriculture and ceremony.
We travel with experienced local guides who help arrange visits respectfully, with fair payment for photography and time to talk and learn rather than simply take pictures. Weekly markets at towns such as Turmi, Key Afer and Jinka are wonderful places to see daily life. The UNESCO-listed terraced landscape of Konso and the lakes of Arba Minch are highlights on the way.
