Uganda is compact, green and astonishingly varied. It is best known for mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi, but a well-planned trip also includes chimpanzees in Kibale, the Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth National Park and the mighty Murchison Falls.
Getting around
Most safaris are driven in a 4×4 with a driver-guide. Distances are long and roads winding, so we often suggest flying one leg — for example Kihihi to Entebbe after Bwindi.
How long?
Five days covers a gorilla trek; seven days adds chimps and a savanna park; ten to twelve days lets you see the whole country.
Practicalities
Most nationalities need an e-visa; the East Africa Tourist Visa covers Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda. Yellow fever vaccination is required.
