Mgahinga is Uganda’s smallest national park, covering the northern slopes of three extinct Virunga volcanoes — Muhavura, Gahinga and Sabinyo — on the borders with Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is home to a habituated gorilla family and to the endangered golden monkey, which lives in the bamboo forest.
Visitors can also hike to the summit of Sabinyo, where three countries meet, or learn about the traditional forest life of the Batwa on the Batwa Trail.
